About this event

Are you interested in the direction of health care in our valley? The League of Women Voters Chaffee County (LWVCC) is sponsoring a candidate forum for the Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center (HRRMC) board on April 23 from 6 to 8 PM at the Poncha Springs Town Hall. The Salida Hospital District is governed by a five-person board of directors, whose members serve staggered, four-year terms. Directors are elected at-large from the community. Elections are held every two years in odd-numbered years. In 2025, three board seats are open. The six candidates running for these positions are William (Bill) P. Alderton, Dean Edwards, Annette Madonna, Carol Merovka, Lydia Segal, and Amy Stanley. The forum will begin with an introductory statement from each candidate. This will be followed by a round of questions presented by the moderator. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions directly as the board candidates meet with attendees at tables. John Tucker, HRRMC CEO, will present an overview of the HRRMC system. For citizens who are unable to attend the forum, a video of the candidate’s statements and lightning-round questions and answers will be recorded to be viewed at LWVChaffeeCounty.org. Voting for the 3 board positions takes place on Tuesday, May 6, 7 AM - 7 PM. Citizens may vote in Salida at the HRRMC main hospital campus, 1000 Rush Drive (2nd floor conference rooms) or in Buena Vista at Mountain Heights Church, 28390 County Road. It is the mission of the LWVCC to encourage informed and active participation in community government.
