About this event

While state and national races tend to get the most attention, for most communities school board elections have significant impact. School boards help set the budgets and priorities for development of a community’s precious resource – its children. In this way, school boards shape the success of the children and towns they serve. That’s why school board elections matter for all residents.

Join us to hear from candidates for the Buena Vista School Board at a forum Tuesday, October 14 from 6 – 8 pm at the Congregational United Church of Christ Fellowship Hall, 217 Crossman Avenue in Buena Vista. A moderated discussion will include Jacob (Jake) Farber and Casey Martin running for the open at-large seat, Laura Hansen running for the open District 2 seat, and Jeremiah Johnson and Antonio Navarrette running for the open District 10 seat. The winner for each seat will then serve a four-year term.

The League of Women Voters of Chaffee County values the volunteers that step up to run and serve in these roles and is pleased to provide an opportunity for community members to learn more about them before voting. BV School District voters can vote for each for these three races and can participate in the November 4 election via mail ballot or voting in person at polling centers.
